Expert James chat's with World Cup Racer and Commencai Super Team rider Cedric Gracia. As many know Cedric is as much a one man side show as he is a World Cup challenger. I spoke with Cedric about Racing, Riding, Products and a few other things that you may have to ask your mom for permission to read.

DM: We have watched you ride in events like the Red Bull Rampage, and some Slope Style events in past years. What is your view on the types of freestyle courses that are being built for competitions today ?

 

CG:: I think the slopestyle was a really good boost for MTB and for Freeriding in general.

 

Right now we are not moving much and I think people are waiting to have something like rampage back.

 

DM: The 4X tracks on the UCI World Cup this year look to have changed from big BMX style course to include more down hill mountain features. What is your take on the courses from 2007 ?

 

I think you’re right we are going the good way, let’s what is BMX to BMX and we need to develop more courses to MTB. We pushing feel all the time

 

 

DM: At the last World Cup race this year the UCI asked about the rebirth of Dual Slalom. What would you like to race in a World Cup circuit ?

 

CG:: I like booth but Dual is definitely more clean and it’s show really who is the best.

 

DM: You have suffered two injury's this year that have removed you from competing. Once your wrist heals how do you get your self back to "Cedric the racer" ?

 

CG:: it was a really bad year for me but it make me realize than I have a lot more in me and don’t worry about Cedric the racer!!!

 

 

DM: Commencal recently release the Furious bike. I understand you worked together with the design team to bring your vision to reality. Tell us about the process of designing a new bike and what your vision of this bike was.

 

CG:: It’s fun to be able to put on a paper you ideas with the computer boys!

I just try to make a bike fun to ride and the most important thing, I made this bike to be one of the best bike to go on the Bike Park. Why? Because this bike is ready to eat anything DH, 4X, Drops, Freeride in general.

 

DM: How much product design influence do you have with your other sponsors with product design and performance ?

 

CG:: A lot actually, because I always improve the products during racing and let them know about what we should improve.

 

 

 

DM: Are there any Riders that you still look up to, even though you have reached their level of riding and racing ? (if yes who and why )

 

CG:: Sam and Peaty. Sam because he isn’t racing against the other riders, he is racing the clock and killing it. Peaty because I like the way he race and as well the person himself.
