February 7th-9th 2008 - Toronto's International Bike Show in association
with Kona Bikes, Diamond Back, and Ryders Eyewear, have always offered the
opportunity for Canada's 4x & BMX racers to shake the dust out of their
legs, get a little track time, and put on a great show for all the
spectators.

Sorry we didn't get these up sooner, but Larissa and My flight was cancelled
due to the storm and it took and extra day just to get home.

Friday February 7th - Tonight's race was a real special one. It was a chance
for riders all over Ontario to come together to celebrate the life of
Ontario's own Tim DaSilva. Tim's family were in the stands cheering on Tim's
Bro, Chris as he qualified in the number #1 spot going into this elimination
rounds. He was tied for 1st with Kona's Matt Stevens (me!), and Indiana's A
Pro, Brian Streiby, but Chris's determination and grit showed he wanted this
win more than anyone else. We didn't make it easy on him, but it didn't
phase him at all.

As the Main gate dropped, the house erupted in a show of support for the top
four riders of the night. Andrew Harper, who was at least 60lbs lighter than
just about everyone else, nailed his gates, and blockpassed like a
linebacker. Industry Skatepark's Brandon Cassell was pumped to make the main
and couldn't stop grinning even after the gate dropped.

It was a great race and a chance to reflect on why we all got into this
sport in the first place.... The love of bikes, the love of competition, and
the love of good friends. Three values that pretty much sum up Tim DaSilva.

Here's how it looked after the dust settled:

1st Chris Dasilva
2nd Andrew Harper
3rd Brandon Cassell
4th Brian Streiby
5th Greg Bidwell
6th Matt Stevens
7th Kyle Pearson
8th Bradie Johnston

Saturday February 8th - You could see the motivation in everyone's eyes
after getting a taste for the track on Friday night. The track came together
pretty nicely and everyone knew it. In every class, there were great gates,
block passes, crashes, lots of passing, and a hell of a lot of smiles and
hands shaking at the finish. Indiana's A Pro, Brian Streiby won the
endurance award as he rode, and placed, in Pro BMX 20", Pro Cruiser, Pro
MTB, and Stunt.

Sunday February 9th - There were three major factors affecting racers on
Sunday. The snow storm that buried Toronto, The loss of an hour for daylight
savings, and the fairly obvious result of the awesome Primary Racing After
Party on Saturday night! All the guys and girls pushed their way through the
pain to ride some of the best riding we'd seen all weekend. Brian Streiby
was treating it like another day at work, while "Kid" Kyle Pearson filled in
for the injured Chris DaSilva (collarbone) as the rep from the Ontario BMX
team. Another Ontario rider, Austin Harper, took the BMX Am class, while
Keith Grant took the MTB Am.
